Lettice and Lovage: A Peter Shaffer Comedy!
Get ready for wit, whimsy, and wonderfully sharp humour as Seaside Theatre brings Peter Shaffer’s riotous comedy Lettice and Lovage to the stage.
This long-running West End favourite introduces two unforgettable characters who couldn’t be more different. Lettice Douffett is a flamboyant and theatrical tour guide who believes history should never be boring—and isn’t above embellishing a few facts to prove it. Her boss, Lotte Schoen, is her polar opposite: proper, precise, and firmly convinced that facts are facts, no matter how dull.
Despite their differences, the two form an unlikely friendship rooted in a shared disdain for bland modern society. What follows is a series of delightfully outrageous schemes—with hilariously unintended consequences.
Celebrated for its sparkling dialogue and two exceptional leading roles, Lettice and Lovage famously earned Maggie Smith and Margaret Tyzack Tony Awards for their performances.
