Women’s Work: Doing What Needs to Be Done
Discover the stories, skills, and contributions of women throughout Prince Edward Island’s history in Women’s Work: Doing What Needs to Be Done, an engaging exhibition on display at the Eptek Art & Culture Centre.
Developed by the PEI Museum & Heritage Foundation and featuring artifacts from its historic collection, this interactive exhibition explores the many ways women have shaped communities, families, industries, and daily life from the earliest days of settlement to the present.
From farms and fisheries to businesses, shipyards, homes, and beyond, women’s labour has played an essential role in building and sustaining Island life. The exhibition highlights both paid and unpaid work, visible and often overlooked contributions, and the countless skills that have helped communities thrive across generations.
Through artifacts, stories, and hands-on learning opportunities, visitors of all ages are invited to reflect on the diverse and vital roles women have played throughout history.
