Canada’s Ballet Jörgen: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
This performance is part of our Harbour Highlights series. We carefully select these shows and proudly bring them to Summerside. We know audiences will love them. Support from the Government of Canada, the Province of Prince Edward Island, and the City of Summerside helps make the series possible.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of William Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies. Four young Athenians wander into a magical forest. Fairies interfere. Romances tangle. Mischief follows, led by the playful trickster, Puck.
Ballet Jörgen brings this story to life in an original ballet inspired by Canada’s North. The production draws on Northern woodlands and tundra landscapes. Forest creatures like moose, beavers, bears, and squirrels fill the stage.
Professional dancers perform alongside local youth. Each show features up to 10 young dancers, ages 9 to 17. They take part through Ballet Jörgen’s Local Participant Program.
This short ballet welcomes the whole family. It delights audiences of all ages. Expect warmth, wonder, and a touch of magic.
