Harbour Filmworks: Little Lorraine (2025)

Step into the gritty underworld of 1980s Atlantic Canada with Little Lorraine (2025), a powerful Canadian crime drama inspired by true events surrounding a notorious Nova Scotia drug smuggling ring. Directed by Andy Hines, the film follows a Cape Breton family man who becomes entangled in an international cocaine operation after a devastating mining disaster turns his world upside down.

Set in a small seaside fishing community, Little Lorraine explores themes of survival, loyalty, and economic hardship against the backdrop of lobster boats, funeral homes, and organized crime. Filmed entirely in Cape Breton, the movie captures both the rugged beauty and resilience of Atlantic Canadian communities during difficult times.

Premiering at TIFF in 2025, the film stars Stephen Amell, Sean Astin, J Balvin, and Stephen McHattie, and draws inspiration from the same real-life maritime smuggling stories that influenced Adam Baldwin’s song Lighthouse in Little Lorraine.
