The Ellis Family Band & Fiddlers’ Sons
PEI favourites The Ellis Family Band return to our stage this summer, alongside award-winning Prince Edward Island folk music group Fiddlers’ Sons. The Ellis Family from Summerside, PEI, grew up surrounded by music. As kids, the four brothers Brian, Rick, Steve and Dave were exposed to all kinds of music. Traditional “Island” fiddle music was introduced to the boys by the band founder and father, Russell Ellis, a well-known fiddle player. That style of music mixed with popular music from the 1970s helped mould a unique musical sound that can still be heard today in The Ellis Family Band’s live performances. They are joined by long-time family friend and colleague Greg MacDonald. Since forming in 1997, Fiddlers’ Sons list of accomplishments and accolades has grown to rival that of any traditional music group in the Maritimes. They have released eight recordings, been awarded numerous Music PEI Awards and have shared the stage with the likes of John Allan Cameron, Lennie Gallant and Rawlins Cross. Fiddlers’ Sons continue to what they do best; entertain. They are keeping traditional music alive, bringing new stories to life with each new song they write and continue to bring people together across the Island and the world with their music.
