A Part of History
The name “Anson” pays tribute to the Avro Anson, a twin-engine aircraft used extensively for training pilots and navigators at No. 9 Service Flying Training School (SFTS) and No. 1 General Reconnaissance School (GRS), both based at RCAF Station Summerside (later CFB Summerside) during the Second World War. It’s a nod to the city’s proud aviation heritage and the role Summerside played in Canada’s wartime training efforts.
