This family-friendly musical comedy follows the unlikely hero Shrek, an ogre who sets out on a quest to rescue Princess Fiona from a dragon-guarded tower. Along the way, he teams up with the loyal and talkative Donkey and encounters a cast of beloved fairy-tale characters who have been banished from their homes by the villainous Lord Farquaad.

Packed with humor, heart, and memorable songs, the story celebrates friendship, acceptance, and discovering that true beauty comes from within.

Based on the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks Animation film and the book Shrek! by William Steig, Shrek The Musical JR. features music by Jeanine Tesori with book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. Adapted especially for student performers, this lively production showcases the creativity, teamwork, and talent of Athena’s students both on stage and behind the scenes.
