The Winter Warmth Festival is coming; here’s everything you need to know!
There’s a sprinkling of snow on the ground, and the winter season has just begun in #TheCityByTheSea! Living your best seaside life doesn’t only apply to the summertime when you can spend your days by the water. In the winter, you can get outdoors, enjoy culinary creations, great music, and come together for our Winter Warmth Festival!
Cozy Culinary
Our first main event is February 9 with a Dueling Pianos Show at Brothers 2! This high-energy event promises a great night out with the crew as the performers take your requested tunes so you can clap and tap the toes to all your favourites!

Running from February 7 to 27, the festival kicks off with a culinary adventure where five Summerside restaurants will release a supper menu each week of the festival. This means there will be 15 different specialty menus to try throughout the month! Each participating restaurant will showcase a 3-course ‘Prix Fixe’ with the dishes highlighting the local flavours and warmth of a delicious meal in the winter. Participating restaurants include:

Come to The Silver Fox Entertainment Complex on February 16 at 7:00 p.m. for a relaxing yoga session while enjoying your favourite brew. Join yoga teacher Jean-Marc Beauchesne as he shows you how to hold the warrior position while sipping on a cold one.
Registration is $15 per person and includes a beer, the yoga class and a $10 gift card for the Breakwater Bar & Grill. For health and safety reasons space is limited to the first 30 registrants and you must provide your own yoga mat. This is a 19+ event. Call the folks at The Fox to register today at (902) 436-2153.
Also on the culinary trail is a series of tasting events – Sip with Your Supper. On February 10 at Brothers 2 Restaurant, you can enjoy a night with Sommelier Lesley as she pours four complimentary curated wine selections as they pair perfectly with your Cozy Culinary Winter Warmth menu item. A second Sip with Your Supper evening will be held on February 17, at Fiveelevenwest.
If wine isn’t your style, Evermoore Brewing Co. will host Flight Night on February 15. With every Cozy Culinary menu ordered, guests will receive a complimentary flight of beers brewed by Evermoore. With over 12 beers on tap, attendees are sure to find their new favourite brew!
Did someone say nightcap? Join Samuel’s Coffee House for Samuel’s After Dark on February 18th. They will dim the lights, turn on some jazzy tunes and offer up signature cocktails, wine, beer and spirited coffees along with decadent desserts – showcasing some old favourites and a few new ones . After Dark starts at 5:30pm and runs until 9:00pm. Reservations recommended by calling (902) 724-2300.
And, for those who like to say, “I’ll have a scotch on the rocks,” Lesley Quinn will host the Stellar Somm Scotch Night at Brothers 2 Restaurant on February 20. In this guided experience, Lesley will pour you four complimentary curated scotch selections that will amplify the evening’s cozy culinary menu.

Outdoor Adventures
From snoga to seaside parties, we’re bringing the warmth! Throughout the festival, you can try your hand at a number of outdoor events, kicking off with the By the Moonlight Snowshoe Walk on February 11, don’t worry, we’ll bring the snowshoes. From 7:00 p.m. β 8:00 p.m., enjoy a dreamy guided moonlit walk of Rotary Friendship Park. With a max capacity of 10 attendees at a time, pre-registration is required. But don’t worry if you miss the first walk; we’re also hosting one on February 18.
If trying yoga is on your New Year’s mindfulness list, Greg Weeks has you covered with his Seaside Snoga sessions each Saturday during the festival. Held at Green’s Shore Park and Spinnaker’s Landing, the seaside locations are the perfect place for you to practice your ujjayi breath and get your stretch on.
Following your yoga on February 19th, you can take the chill off with the Keeping it Toasty Seaside Party. Held at the Paddle Shack (stationed on the boardwalk), you can relax seaside by the fire, have a bevvy, try a tasty treat, and hang with some new friends. After all, a party near the beach doesn’t have to be just a summer thing!
And, on February 25, you can get the whole family together for Skating Under the Stars. Head to the outdoor rink at Schurman park for an evening of fun. There will be lights, music, bonfires and pitchers of hot chocolate with marshmallows on top!
RIDE IT! Winter Biking Festival
February 19 and 20 will be an action-packed weekend at Rotary Friendship Park! The Rotary Park Rundown is the only winter biking race of its kind, with winter biking racers shredding the trails. After the race you can have more winter fun with your family and hit the tobogganing slope, strap on some snowshoes, cross-country ski, or try your hand at fat biking. *For more details on the race, or to register, email ActiveLiving@summerside.ca
You can also sign up for the Fat Bike Night Ride with Meridian63 MTB. Join certified instructor Mike Robertson and Meridian63 MTB to challenge your riding skills with other winter biking enthusiasts for fun after sundown! *Pre-registration is required. Please email info@exploresummerside.com. There is a participant capacity of 20 people. This is a bring your own bike event.*
Not sure if winter biking is your thing? You can also join Meridian63 MTB for the Learn to Ride Event on February 20 at Rotary Friendship Park. Mike will show you the ropes as you hop on a bike and get introduced to this fun winter activity. For this guided event, where Mike will take you on a ride through Rotary Friendship Park, we’ll supply the bikes; you just show up, ready for fun! *Pre-registration is required. Please email info@exploresummerside.com. There is a participant capacity of 4 people per one-hour time slot.*
Oh, and one more thing, if you like a bike ride and a good brew, we’ve got something just for you! Join us from 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on February 20 for the Seaside Bikes and Brews along the waterfront! With the start and finish hub located at The Paddle Shack, Evermoore Brewing Co. will host a pop-up brew tasting for you to try their craft beer made right here in the city. There will also be treats, campfires and fun for the full family. No registration required, just drop in and have all the fun! *All ages welcome but only the big kids 19+ can try the brew!*
