Pianist Max Keenlyside will perform a live improvised score alongside a screening of Underground (1928), a captivating silent film set in London’s iconic subway system. Directed by Anthony Asquith and starring Brian Aherne, Elissa Landi, and Cyril McLaglen, the film offers a glimpse into the early brilliance of British cinema.
Before becoming known for acclaimed adaptations like The Importance of Being Earnest and Pygmalion, Asquith made his mark during the silent era with visually striking and innovative storytelling—Underground being one of his standout works.
Presented in collaboration with Island Jazz, this special screening is part of the Cine-Concert series, blending film and live music for a truly immersive experience.
