Exhibition & Meet the Artist: Somebody’s Child by Nan Ferrier
Somebody’s Child, a compelling painting series by Nan Ferrier, will be on display in the lobby of Eptek Art & Culture Centre throughout January and February.
This deeply human series grew from Ferrier’s time attending the free breakfast program at Trinity United Church in Summerside, where she began drawing the people around her — those attending the breakfast, their families, and others who passed through the space. Drawn to what she describes as their “interesting faces,” Ferrier set out to highlight people who are not often the focus of gallery exhibitions.
Somebody’s Child portrays individuals in motion — engaged in everyday actions — and speaks powerfully to shared humanity, dignity, and connection. Each work invites viewers to slow down, look closer, and recognize the stories carried in each face.
The public is invited to a Meet the Artist event with Nan Ferrier on Sunday, February 1, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. This informal gathering offers the opportunity to meet the artist, view the exhibition, and learn more about the inspiration behind the work.
This event is free to attend, and everyone is welcome.
