Before launching his music career, Lawrence served in the Royal Canadian Navy, where he began writing the songs that shaped his debut album, Not Your Outlaw (2018). As a result, the release earned him a Music PEI Award and quickly raised his national profile. He followed it with Almost Natural (2020), which received an ECMA nomination and led to international showcases, including AmericanaFest UK.

Most recently, Lawrence released Ballad of Miles, earning seven Music PEI Award nominations, widespread airplay on SiriusXM, CBC, and Country Hits Radio UK, and praise from Roots Music Canada as “the first great Canadian alt-country album of 2022.”
